Be Like Water

Updated: Mar 19, 2019

“Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.” ~ Lao Tzu

I am working on being like water – flowing with life, not resisting. Being smooth instead of rigid. I am learning how to navigate the twists and turns, the obstacles and challenges, with grace and fluidity. Strategies for how to be a warrior of light ~ a master of destiny. To flow through - to rise above.

As life seems to constantly produce tests, surprises, challenges, and losses – I have been going deeper into my own practice of letting go of expectations, judgments, and attachments to outcome. Instead I am focusing my energy towards gratitude, learning, allowing, and flowing.

Instead of resisting life I am practicing being present and grateful for each moment. Each moment is an opportunity to learn and to experience life. It is our judgments, attachments, and expectations that make our moments painful. Instead of reacting or resisting our experiences, we can choose to direct our thoughts to see the outcome we desire … we then can relax our energetic body so we may allow enough softness to support the reception of our intentions.

As the world shakes and shifts around me, I can choose to cultivate a center of peace and stability within me. As life delivers obstacles and surprise punches, I can be like water and flow through the path of least resistance. As I open to Universal Energy – to Chi – I open to infinite energy. If I contract or resist the natural flow, I simply deplete myself and limit the harmonious energy flowing through my life.

I use my breath, movement such as yoga, tai chi, or dance, meditation, time in nature, medicine ceremonies, and conscious thought direction, to help cultivate an inner reality of peace and joy. Practicing gratitude, humility, revarance, forgiveness, patience, and compassion, help me to stay balanced on path of spiritual awakening and harmonious living. I am on this path practicing … I still stray and fall at times – yet these practices bring me back to center and help me stay free from feeling overwhelmed with my environment or circumstances.

The intensity of life and Earth seems to have been turned up quite a bit. How we navigate the current energies and the challenges before us is up to us – our choices. We can react, resist, play out old power struggles and cultural patterns, we can fight, compete, complain or we can learn to cultivate peace within, flow with energy, live in awe and gratitude, consciously direct our thoughts and intentions to create positive outcomes, and learn to emanate harmony and balance. We can choose to be like water.
